Our family enjoys the activity we refer to as "beachgemming": scouring the shores of our local beaches for sea glass and handpicking colorful pieces for our growing collection. The shards of broken glass have been caressed by the waves and sand of the ocean for many decades, softening the sharp edges and pitting the surface for a beautiful frosty appearance, to produce the beautiful beach baubles.
The process of spiritual refinement in our Christian walk is sometimes slow and painful, and, like pieces of sea glass, we may find ourselves being tossed in and ocean of uncertainty, fear, and worry. Life's trials becomes the waves and sand that soften rough spots in our character, test our faith, and mold us into the people God desires us to be. The process may take days, weeks, or a lifetime. Oftentimes, the world may view us as insignificant, but we are grateful for a God who sees us, not as unworthy vessels, but as priceless treasures.
